The Bayeux Botanical Garden
Landscaped park of 2.6ha, created in 1859 by the Bülher brothers. Among its 400 trees, a spectacular “weeping beech tree” has been listed as a natural monument since 1932 and labelled “remarkable tree of France” in 2001. Planted 140 years ago, its crown is about 40M and its size is 17M. It covers an area of about 1250M2. A discovery circuit consisting of information terminals gives the keys to discover the garden freely.
The half-timbered house
Built between the 14th and 15th centuries, classified as a historical monument in 1924. At the corner of the Rue des Cuisiniers, in the centre of Bayeux, it has successively hosted a shop, an inn, the restaurant «Le loge à pieds», until the beginning of the 20th century, then L’OFFICE DE TOURISME at the end of the 20th century.
The Bayeux Tapestry
A masterpiece of the Middle Ages, embroidered to the glory of William the Conqueror, inscribed in the UNESCO Memory of the World Register since 2007. The battle of Hastings took place on October 14, 1066 near the town of Hastings, in eastern Sussex. It opposes the last Anglo-Saxon king of England HAROLD GODWINSON to Duke GUILLAUME of Normandy. It ends with the victory of the latter.
